Introduction

This is an introduction to the Professions of Lord of the Rings Online. The professions are not the individual crafting class you pick. Instead you pick a vocation, and the vocation consists of a set of professions. The professions are explained below.

 

 


The Cook

The Cook, as the name implies; cooks food for others. While food is not required for you to sustain your character, food is still good to have. Food will help increase various stats including a Morale (HP) regeneration boost. This boost in Morale regeneration can be very useful if you are out of combat and need to regenerate large amounts of Morale

Vocations that use this profession: Tinkerer | Yeoman

 

 


The Farmer

The Farmer provides supplies for the cook to use. These supplies are often more sought after than the generic supplies provided by NPC vendors. The Farmer can also provide a handful of ingredients for scholars to make dye. The Farmer can also farm pipe weed to smoke.

Vocations that use this profession: Historian | Woodsman | Yeoman

 

 

The Forester

The Forester gathers wood from wood nodes scattered around middle earth. They can work this wood into something for Woodworker to use. The Forester also gathers hide from fallen animals, and boils them into usable leather for Tailors.

Vocations that use this profession: Explorer | Woodsman

 

 


The Jeweler

The jeweler create several different items. Primarily they create jewelry. They can also create expendable (one time use only) tokens to help boost various stats. These tokens can increase hope for your entire fellowship (group or party).

Vocations that use this profession: Tinkerer

 

 


The Metalsmith

The Metalsmith create Armour and shields. They do not harvest any materials, or refine any materials. The Metalsmith primarily makes Armour for heavy Armour wearing classes, such as the Guardian, Champion, and Captain classes. They may be one of the less desirable professions to use; but they make up for it with very impressive gear.

The Prospector

The Prospector gathers ore. They also smelt and refine the ore for Jewelers, Metalsmiths, and Armsmen to create various pieces of gear. They can also harvest various rare items while they harvest the ore such as gems, and dye salts.

Vocations that use this profession: Armourer | Armsman | Explorer | Tinkerer

 

 


The Scholar

The Scholar are the brainiacs of the community. They gather artifacts from around Middle Earth. These artifacts are studied. They create scrolls from the studied items that other professions can overview, which will enable them a chance to create a higher quality item than they would normally create.

Vocations that use this profession: Historian

 

 


The Tailor

The Tailor creates medium and light Armours. These Armours may not be as sturdy as the Metalsmith's heavy Armours; but they can be just as beneficial in other areas. The tailor relies on Forester to to boil hides for them. Without these boiled hides The Tailor cannot create.

The Weaponsmith

The Weaponsmith creates melee weapons. Weapons such as Swords, Axes, Daggers, 2 handed swords, and 2 handed axes. The Weaponsmith can create very simple to very elegant weapons. They rely on the prospector for their refined ores to create items.

Vocations that use this profession: Armourer | Historian

 

 


The Woodworker

The Woodworker are also a type of weapon creator. They create Bows, and various hafted weapons, such as Staffs, and Spears. The Woodworker relies on the Forester to harvest and work wood into usable components.

Vocations that use this profession: Armsman | Woodsman
