Ministrel Guide

If you are comfortable with bards from other games, such as EverQuest or EverQuest2 forget just about everything you know about them. The Minstrel is infact a bard type of class but in Middle Earth form, but they are far from what you might know from EverQuest.

For instance. Bards in EverQuest and EverQuest2 were largely melee types, relying heavily on melee to do damage, and songs to do short duration buffs, or debuffs. Well instead, the Minstrel uses his instruments to do damage, while he does melee it is very little. The Minstrel relies almost completely on his songs for damaging, buffs, and debuffs.

The Minstrel uses the light armor and progresses to medium armor, no tanking for you. But don't let that discourage you. The Minstrel has amazing heals to keep you alive, as a matter of fact (this is all based on noobie level 20 and lower characters) the Minstrel seems to be the hardest class to kill with their impressive heals, buffs and debuffs.

One thing I noticed is that there seem to be no run speed buffs for the Minstrel, which is strange since I am coming from EverQuest.

Another bonus of the Minstrel is, in the music system they can use ANY instrument in the game. While most classes are limited to just 2 instruments, the Minstrel can use anything.

Summary

Lets wrap it up: The Minstrels are healers, buffers, and debuffers, with moderate damage output, and no real tanking ability. So if your a music nut, you might want to consider this very fun, and very powerful class.
