Guardian Guide

The Guardians are the primary tanks in Lord of the Rings Online. They take damage extremely well, in fact its not uncommon to come out of a fight missing only a few hit points. What I've found is that you often run out of Power (Mana) before you run out of Morale (Hit Points).

The Guardian is not just good because they take damage very well. They are assisted by various self only buffs. One key buff is also doubles as an attack, “Guardian's Ward” does low to moderate damage, but also increase chances to block, dodge, and parry for 10 seconds. With a 3 second cool down the attack can be used over and over.

You also eventually get an ability which will increase your chance to block, it does nothing else other than that. However, this ability does not wear off unless you die. It seems to last forever.

Guardians are also assisted with some very powerful and potent attacks. One of which is called “Shield-Blow”. This attack allows you to do devastating damage to your target while increasing threat (more on threat later).

Guardians also get “Sweeping Cut” which is a frontal area attack. This attack only hits up to 3 targets at once, but it can do some very good damage to 3 of your enemies. This attack strikes twice. When the attack is used, you are stunned for about 2 seconds after using it.

Threat is Lord of the Rings Online's version of hate. If you are familiar with hate from other games, you can pretty much skip this section. Threat determines which person the enemy will attack. The enemy will attack the person who develops the most threat. Generally anything you do to the enemy creates more threat for you on his threat list. But threat building abilities generally generate more threat than just standard attacks.

Summary

Lets wrap it up: The Guardian is the king of tanks. They can take insane amounts of damage, at the same time they can give a lot more than they take. The Guardian can generate large amounts of threat to protect their allies from harm. They can also wear medium armor, and heavy armor at higher levels.
