Lord of the Rings Online: Creating a Character

Part 3 – Creating a hero

So you've installed the game, registered a new account, and selected a server. Now you are ready to create a hero.

Before you decide you want to be the next Legolas or Gandalf. There are a few things you need to know.

First I suggest you find out which class you'd like to be using our class guides.

Lets take a look at which races can be which classes.

Each race has specific beneficial and detrimental traits. What this means is that being a Guardian Elf is not as good as being a Guardian Dwarf. I'll break it all down for you.

• Humans
  • Are the only race that can be a “Captain”
  • Get to be ALL of the classes available in the game
  • Get +15 Might.
  • Get +15 Fate
  • Get -8 Will
• Dwarves
  • Gets use of 1 handed axes
  • Get +15 Might
  • Get +10 Vitality
  • +1.0% Common Mitigation
  • +0.5 In-Combat Morale and Power
  • Get -8 Agility
  • Get -8 Fate
  • Get -1.0 out-of-combat Morale Regeneration
  • Get -0.5 out-of-combat Power Regeneration
• Hobbits
  • Get +15 Vitality
  • Get +1.0 out-of-combat Morale Regeneration
  • Get +1.0% Fear Resistance
  • Get +1.0% Shadow Resistance
  • Get -8 Might
• Elves
• Get +15 Agility
• Get +1.0% Disease Resistance
• Get +1.0% Poison Resistance
• Get -20.0 Morale
• Get -1.0 Morale Regeneration
• Get -8 Fate

Observation of the racial benefits, and class demands leads me to the following conclusions:

• Human
  • Makes the best Captain. Since they are the only race that gets to be Captain.
  • Can be a very good Champion.
  • Would be well rounded for any other class.
• Dwarf
  • Makes the best Guardian.
  • Would be a good Champion.
• Hobbit
  • Make the best Burglars.
  • Would make a very good Ministrel.
• Elf
  • Make the best Lore-Masters
  • Make the best Hunters
    
    Because of their Morale penalties, it works best for elves to stand in the back and attack from a distance.
