The Champions in Lord of the Rings Online are very powerful. They rely on dual wielding weapons, and sustaining damage throughout entire battles. They do not get many (if any) group buffs.
Champion Guide
The Champion is made purely for the sake of doing damage with melee weapons, such as swords, clubs, and daggers. They prefer to dual wield, and use powerful double attacks to ravage enemies.
The real power of the champions comes in with fervor attacks. You ask, What is fervor? Well, I'm glad you asked! Fervor is another system in the game designed specifically for champions. Fervor comes in the form of points. Various attacks will increase your fervor count by 1. When you have enough fervor points you can execute powerful attacks or self buffs.
So your generic attacks are powerful, but if you use them wisely to build up your fervor, your new attacks are twice as strong. Fervor doesn't give you just powerful attacks though. For instance, using 2 fervor points gives you the ability to buff yourself with a “haste” type buff, which will increase your attack speed, making you hit faster.
Champions sound pretty sweet huh? Well thats not all, they can use medium armor and at later levels they can also wear heavy armor. But just as much DPS as Hunters and Loremasters.
Although the downside is that champions have absolutely NO HEALS. Champions are very strong upfront, but you do not have much to fall back onto when in a tight situation. When everything fails, just run away.
Summary
Lets wrap it up: Champions are powerful indeed. They can output insane amounts of damage, while taking in quite a bit as well. With Fervor they can do substantially more damage, and do some basic self buffs. With heavy armor they can take a few blows, with lots of hp they can take a few more. Without heals, or much else to the champion they do not have much to fall back on in a tight situation.
